History
The first meeting with the aim to establish formalized cooperation between those European consulting engineering companies took place in Brussels in October 1989.
In January 1990, the Members decided to create top E and the formation contract was signed in September 1990.
Shortly after, the grouping registered in Brussels as a European Economic Interest Grouping, EEIG (Council Regulation no 2137/85) with number 29.
At the foundation, top E decided to financially operate in Ecu between the Members. Thus it was without difficulties that top E implemented the European Union single currency, Euro in 2002.
Obviously, all European languages and more were spoken in the network, but for practical reasons, English was chosen as the operations language.
The creation of top E was at those days Europe opened up for the internal marked with free moment of goods, services and capital, among others. The grouping founders led by the first Board: Mario Costantino, Italy Henry A Roba, Belgium Ger. Van Beek, The Netherlands and Uli Behr Germany challenged with top E that new agenda for Europe’s industry.
Strategic co-operation over the years between these independent consultants strengthened the grouping for cross-border operations and became recognised by international clients in the construction sector as a leading network partner.
Today, international clients benefit from contracting with top E members in the countries for their cross-border activities. From project concept to operation and maintenance, our clients have the services by our local long time established members, which supply the same high level advice, owing to extensive exchange of technical knowledge between these for many years members and because of efficient cross-border communication and project management.
